Ferrari Factory Tour 1987

When a factory tour was really a factory tour.

Back in 1987 a 'factory tour' really was a 'factory tour' in the full-sense of  the word factory. Here are just a few photos from that visit. It included the assembly line, paint shop, foundry, engine room etc. The only area out of bounds was the racing department. There was amazing access.

However, if you have a mid-1980s Ferrari you might wondern why it's rusted. As you can see in the photos the cars were stored outside! In fact you can see snow lying along the bottom of the windscreens!

Other photos show;

Testarossas on the assembly lines.

An engineer putting the finishing touches to a TR engine before it's fitted.

A Mondial Spyder in undercoat.

A 328 being prepped for painting.

A black Mondial Spyder being pushed away for drying.

The foundry with engine castings in the foreground.

(Please don't ask me for any chassis numbers :) )
